Actors Ready, Camera Is On, Ongoing Drama. Zahra Moein. 2020.
Created between 2019 and 2020, during a wave of global uprisings—from Iran and Lebanon to Chile and Hong Kong—this video work examines the reproduction and replication of protest imagery throughout history. Framing the body as an archive, it traces recurring gestures in protests, drawing connections to historical contexts such as Goya’s politically charged paintings and the traditions of theater and dance, where gestures take on layered meanings over time.
“Actors Ready, Camera Is On, Ongoing Drama” is part of Notes on Protest, a project comprising four video pieces that explore demonstrations through gestures and perception.
